Mark Stone
Mark Stone is a Practice Pharmacist Partner at the Tamer Valley Practice, a large rural practice that has two dispensaries and a pharmacy. He has worked in the practice for over 10 years and conducts clinics as an independent prescriber for patients with all long-term conditions and polypharmacy. He is lead partner for the financial performance of the dispensing and pharmacy businesses. Mark believes that bringing together pharmacists as part of the practice team enhances the service offering of the practice, supports positive patient outcomes and helps free up doctor time. Mark is in addition a clinical director for Launceston and Tamar Valley Practice Primary Care Network, and is a board member of the Dispensing Doctors Association.

I joined Tamar Valley Health in the summer of 2020, having just returned to Cornwall following 10 years in London working in retail management. I joined as a practice support assistant to support the practice with the challenges of the Covid pandemic. Working my way from the ground up at the practice I spent time in reception, HR and finance to eventually join the PCN in August 2021. My role developed into Operations Manager for the PCN where I support our team of Care Coordinators, liaise between practices, and help to review and maintain our funding objectives.

I qualified in Southampton in 1996 and joined Tamar Valley Health in 2002. In addition to my role as a GP within the Practice, I also work as a clinical director for Launceston and Tamar Valley Primary Care Network (PCN). Within the Practice I am closely involved with quality improvement and the GP Quality and Outcomes Framework. I have undertaken extra study into skin disease and contraception to further enhance my role. I am a GP trainer and I provide mentoring and clinical support to various members of the primary care team. I am enthusiastic about the opportunities available via the PCN to bring new job roles into general practice - enhancing the services available to our patients. Supporting the development of our workforce is key to our future success. In addition, we need to engage with our patients via our Patient Participation Groups (PPGs) and with our community services and the voluntary sector. I would encourage anyone reading this to consider joining our PPG. We need to all work together to ensure our community receives the very best service possible.

I have worked for Tamar Valley Health since 2015, before this, I worked for a private dental practice as a Senior Dental Nurse and Deputy Practice Manager. I have been part of Launceston & Tamar Valley PCN from the very beginning, supporting the delivery of patient care specifications and introducing new team members to our primary care teams. I have numerous qualifications, including management & Leadership and human resources. Personal and professional development within the workplace is a passion of mine, alongside workforce strategy.

Amit, an ambitious leader who uses reasoned diplomacy, collaborative bluntness, and a compassionate personality to deliver transformation within the community.
With a unique ability to see solutions and opportunities in challenges, he has enhanced the pathways in cardiac and diabetic care, improving clinical outcomes. He believes in teamwork and accomplishes this by inspiring, trusting, and promoting colleagues.

I have worked in General Practice since I graduated from Plymouth University in 2000. My background is in Health Informatics. More recently I have worked as Practice Manager at Launceston Medical Centre. I am proud to be working with such a great team at Launceston & Tamar Valley PCN.
Dr Rachel Parkinson
Dr Rachel Parkinson BMedSci, BM, BS, MRCP, DFSRH, DRCOG, MRCGP
I have been a GP partner at Launceston Medical Centre since 2014. Prior to moving to general practice I spent time working in hospital medicine, achieving Membership of the Royal College of Physicians. My main areas of interest are general medicine and mental health, in particular the overlap between the two. I am adult safeguarding lead and deputy child safeguarding lead for Launceston Medical Centre.

I am the Project Manager for Launceston and Tamar Valley PCN, joining the team when I returned from Maternity leave mid 2021. I am also the Practice Business Manager at Tamar Valley Health and has been at the Practice for over 15 years. I have a focus on supporting quality improvement projects, monitoring IIF targets and reducing our environmental impact across the PCN in line with the NHS' net zero ambitions.
